Information on electrical and electronic equipment

Information on electrical and electronic equipment in accordance with the Electrical and Electronic Equipment Act (ElektroG)
According to the law on the placing on the market, return and environmentally friendly disposal of electrical and electronic equipment (ElektroG), we have to inform private households:

1. Separate collection of old equipment
Manufacturers of electrical and electronic equipment must mark their products placed on the market after 23 November 2005 with a symbol (crossed-out wheeled bin) and take them back free of charge. Such old equipment must not be disposed of with household waste, but must be separated, collected and disposed of via suitable collection and return systems.

2. Batteries and rechargeable batteries
Private households must dispose of old electrical devices that they no longer wish to use in an environmentally friendly manner. Old electrical devices must be collected separately from unsorted municipal waste and old batteries and accumulators must be separated from old electrical devices if they are not enclosed in the old electrical device and if old electrical devices are not separated in accordance with Section 14 Paragraph 5 Sentences 2 and 3 of the ElektroG in order to prepare them for reuse.

3. Options for returning old devices:
We as distributors with a sales, storage and shipping area for electrical and electronic equipment of at least 400 m² are obliged to
(a) when a new electrical or electronic equipment is delivered to an end-user, to take back, free of charge, the end-user’s old equipment of the same type and which essentially performs the same functions as the new equipment at the place of delivery or in the immediate vicinity of that place; and
(b) to take back old appliances, the external dimensions of which do not exceed 25 cm, in normal household quantities either in a retail store or in the immediate vicinity of a retail store free of charge, whereby the take-back is not linked to the purchase of an electrical or electronic appliance.
Electrical and electronic equipment that falls under the ElektroG includes in particular the devices listed in Annex 1 to the ElektroG.

As a consumer, you have the following options to dispose of an electrical or electronic device safely and responsibly:
a) As in the past, you use the collection and recycling points of the public waste disposal authorities (e.g. municipal recycling centres).
b) Your old device is still in good condition or can be repaired. Perhaps a donation to a charity is a good way to reuse it?
c) You have purchased an electrical or electronic device from Janado GmbH that falls under the provisions of the ElektroG; in this case, you can return your old device of the same type and that essentially performs the same functions as the new device to Janado GmbH.
d) You can return old devices that are no longer than 25 cm in any dimension (regardless of whether you purchase a new device from Janado GmbH).

For the last two options, the following options are available to you:
a) You have the option of returning your old electrical appliance free of charge to the following address: Janado GmbH Hansaallee 321 Building 37 40549 Düsseldorf

4. Data protection notice
We would like to point out that the end user is responsible for backing up and deleting personal data as well as operational and business secrets on the old electrical device to be disposed of. Janado GmbH assumes no liability for any possible loss or misuse of data and any damage that may result from this.

5. Meaning of the symbol “crossed-out garbage can”
The symbol of a crossed-out garbage bin regularly shown on electrical and electronic equipment indicates that the device in question must be collected separately from unsorted municipal waste at the end of its service life.
